415314_orig-225x300_0Today in East Nashville theres an event happening And not just any event. I found out about the Roxy Theatre a few months back looking for older buildings on the East side that might be perfect locations for a new venue, recording space just something a little different. In talking with a rep at the local non-profit group,Neighborhoods Resource Center, I found out about this event today, and the plans to rejuvenate this amazing piece of Nashville History.

This group has come together with a host of great sponsors to bring community back into this neighborhood, the way it was 80 years ago, for one night only (at least until they find a builder or a buyer that can help bring this funky awesome establishment back to life). The neighborhood they speak of was a part of a local push to bring young life into an aging city that at the time was (and still is) growing exponentially. The Roxy played an integral role in ascertaining a roots system that would hopefully make this little neighborhood on Meridian grow into something new and attractive.

Now, again, 80 years later, out of the gate and running, this event toSave The Roxyholds the same hope and may prove to be just the thing the community ordered! A production lead by Jared Corder, one of the producers of the local and popular event seriesEast Nashville Underground, this day long event will host some great bands, a few classic films, and many great local food trucks.

Come to 827 Meridian St. and enjoy good food, good music, and classic film. Be a part of a history making event at a historical East Nashville Monument, The Roxy Theatre.

See you there!
