May 16, 2015—Asylum of the Dead, the first official behind the camera release by The Walking Dead star, Michael Rooker, has hit the shelves of Walmart and Amazon.com. The release, starring Rooker, Beverley Mitchell and Haylie Duff about the insane asylum by the same name in Rookers hometown is a blend of science fiction and horror/thriller action.
From IMDB: For decades, Pennhurst psychiatric hospital has been haunted by turbulent supernatural forces. When a television crew embarks on a mission to capture this paranormal activity, they discover something completely unexpected.
With an initial release in 2012, on the SYFY channel, the film has seen some success, but since Rookers appearance in the recent blockbuster hit, Guardians of the Galaxy as the blue alien Yondu Udonta, and The Walking Deads favorite antihero, Merle Dixon, Asylum of the Dead has gained much more traction and fandom.
True Source Entertainment founder, Joshua Smith (aka Joshua, joshband.com), scored much of the films music, as well as the final composition, Take Your Life. The song features Smith on many tracks, as well as producer/drummer Alex Elena, and recorded under the band name, Running Like Ravens.
