First, if you’re going to make any cosmetic changes, know that it’s best to do so at least 2 weeks before your shoot date. That way if you get a bad haircut or a coloring you’re not happy with, you’ll have time to let it grow out/correct it before your shoot. Since this is a fairly last minute shoot, it’s best to “go with what you got”, and know that headshots should be updated 2 to 4 times per year (so you may be needing a new one soon anyway).

Secondly, it’s important to get ample rest and stay hydrated in the days before. This will help ensure you look your best when in front of the camera.

If you haven’t had much experience in being photographed, you may feel a little nervous about it. It’s perfectly okay! Your photographer will help you get comfortable during the shoot and you can even practice before you arrive.

One method is to stare in the mirror with your chin slightly down, and practice releasing tension from your face while remaining engaged in your eyes. Focus on your inner zen. Project into the camera what you want your audience to know about you.

Bring a few options. We suggest formal business attire and a more casual option. It’s a chest-up portrait so don’t worry about your clothes from the waist down.

Ladies, a piece of jewelry can add a nice touch. Men should bring a few shirt/ tie combinations to choose from. Avoid busy patterns or intricate plaids. In general, solid colors and simple patterns work well, but bring the clothes you feel the best in.

After you’ve finished the shoot, the photo technician will assist you in choosing your final image. Your selected image will be professionally retouched and emailed to you within 72 hours. At the time of your session, if you wish to select additional images, they may increase your budget depending on your contract details.

Every professional publication uses a retoucher to get the most out of your shot. It’s important to make sure that you understand the importance of making your picture really shine. We take care of that for you to make you look the best you can be…without taking away who you really are.
