Image by Jamie Strachan After buying every EP and LP, attending more than a handful of shows, and even interviewing the man, I was pretty sure I knew Bobby Long the musician and wordsmith. As was the case before Wishbone (Longs sophomore full-length effort) was released, I was wrong. Following the rock-driven Devil Moon, Blood in the Orchard, and Yesterday Yesterday from Wishbone, I expected him to announce his presence with raucous riffs as he blazed into the first song. Instead, Ode to Thinking begins with delicate, dexterous acoustic guitar and tender voice. In with a whisper, the chorus, supported by his own [...]
A new take on modern recording, made available only on BANDCAMP and through his website Nashville native indie recording artist, JOSHUA and his new band of Bandits have released a follow up to the 52 songs written, recorded and briefly released in 2014. The cinematic 3 piece song-trilogy (we dare say, a first of it’s kind) is an effort to break from the monotony of modern American music culture. This was a bit hard to believe until we saw it ourselves on our own iPhones. The new album was released a couple weeks ago now, and however a little floored, we're also impressed, and very grateful... we are fans after all. But this cravass is a "hard" one to cross. Generally, the idea of giving away free music as a promotional tactic (and it's quite required these days) has always been a hefty investment for artists. Even U2, one of the most world renowned bands has suffered certain consequences of this type of endeavor. Aussie papers calling it an epic fail, and according to [...]
The Music Industry is notoriously unsupportive of artists. To qualify that statement let me also say that it's not entirely the Industry's fault, which doesn't make it the artist's fault... As far as we can tell, it's just the way in which the Industry has evolved with the social trends that have occurred. But let's just say it and be honest about it, because once this is out in the open, we have an opportunity to change, grow, develop, evolve further... the industry suffers from its mistake of not putting the artist first. This is the way the industry is, and it's why the Industry [...]
